Claim your space. Claim your joy. Pittsburgh‑style.
Pittsburgh has a long-storied tradition of saving parking spots with chairs — and our community has an even longer tradition of showing up with creativity, resilience, and Pride. This year, we’re bringing those worlds together for something fun, quirky, and unmistakably PGH: the Parking Chair Pride Contest.
We’re inviting community members, youth, families, artists, neighbors, and anyone with a spark of imagination to transform a classic Pittsburgh parking chair into a full‑on Pride masterpiece. Paint it, bedazzle it, wrap it in flags, turn it into a tiny float — whatever feels like you. If it still reads “parking chair” and radiates Pride, it’s perfect.
This contest is all about celebrating who we are, honoring Pittsburgh culture, and reminding each other that everyone deserves space to exist, express, and belong.

✨Lace up, show up, and move for the community. ✨

Proud Haven will be celebrating 12 years as a non-profit in Pgh Community this April 2025 and Trans YOuniting, recently achieved its own nonprofit status in 2022, 9 years after being created by Dena Stanley.
